Exclusive Interview – Stephanie Delgado, CEO & Founder, DataCents Analytics
I am currently the CEO and Chief Data Office of DataCents Analytics, LLC. My company provides three services: Fractional Chief Data Officer/data science on demand services, social impact analyses like economic impact analyses, and data monetization services with a focus on data coming from the public sector. I’m an applied economist by training, and I’ve moved back and forth between the public, private and entrepreneurial spaces. What I love about my job is that I spend most days making people happy. There is so much data in so many different places in the public sector, but people either don’t know …

Speaker Spotlight Q&A: John Kaschak, Executive Deputy Secretary at Pennsylvania Department of Revenue
Conversely, COVID has led to a lot more emails and far fewer face-to-face interactions. And, despite leveraging technology such as Skype, Teams, etc. relationship and team building is much harder. Onboarding and training of new personnel have been more difficult. And we’ve learned that departmentwide communication has had its challenges. Employee awareness and engagement have suffered a bit.

Building a Solid Foundation & Strategy to Enable Digital Acceleration
In the course of a day, “we are confronted with quite often a lot of information.” But most of it isn’t particularly useful. It is necessary to be able “to see what really matters.” This is where data literacy comes in. It is about “the visualisation and the interpretation of critical data.” says David Evans, Director, Business Analytics, WorkSafe Victoria The concept of data integration can mean different things to different people, but for this purpose, it means “joining, combining or linking data from more than one source.” Generally, the data needs to have shared characteristics, so that it should …

Driving Data & Analytics Excellence in the NZ Government
Across many industries these days, it is often said that data is the lifeblood of society, and this became, even more, the case during the pandemic. Yet even within all that, the people who work with data regularly question what it is, and therefore aren’t always sure how to create governance strategies around it, and how it uses it in a holistic …

Information Management for Government
Government Speaker: Kathryn Gulifa, Chief Data & Analytics Officer, WorkSafe Victoria Given the amount of data involved in each process, “the whole strategy was underpinned by data and analytics as a key pillar of the strategy.” Importantly, this was identified early and thus the “board and executive team were on board and understood the value of data and analytics.” The first deliverable was the implementation of a new CRM (customer relationship management) platform “that was initially focussed on managing the inspector at the operations.” The strategy document that lay behind the implementation was “several hundred pages long and described the …

Developing Autonomous Data Competencies for Real Value & Analytics-Readiness
The concept of data integration can mean different things to different people, but for this purpose, it means “joining, combining or linking data from more than one source.” Generally, the data needs to have shared characteristics, so that it should be “about people or businesses,” and it can also be “integrated over time to create a longitudinal dataset.” But to really get the most out of the data, it also needs to interact with other datasets. For instance, “educational outcomes are not just affected by what’s happening in the classroom, they’re also affected by other things like health and family …
