Procurement Innovation in Healthcare

This session compared traditional Design-Build/CM and Alliance procurement methods in healthcare, highlighting their impacts on project timelines, resource management, and fostering innovation in partner selection.

This session "Procurement Innovation in Healthcare" featured Noor Esmail, Chief Project Officer and Executive Director of the Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Project at Fraser Health.

Esmail explored the dynamics of healthcare procurement innovation by comparing traditional Design-Build/CM methods with the more innovative Alliance procurement approach. The discussion assessed the impacts on project schedules and resource requirements, highlighting the distinctive qualities of the single TOC (Target Outturn Cost) alliance procurement process.

The session also emphasized how this method enhances resource management and fosters greater innovation, ultimately promoting a more sustainable selection of design and construction partners tailored to the Owner's needs.
