Big Data & Actionable Analytics for Government
All organisations collect data and use data. Some have data strategies to inform how the data is used and managed, whilst others use data in creative ways to deal with challenges and crises, including COVID-19. This paper presents the perspectives of three data experts from different sized public sector organisations. Between them, they are using the data at their disposal to streamline manual processes, to manage crises, and to assist their stakeholders and residents in new and creative ways. The lessons from these perspectives can assist others to also use data in innovative ways.

AI in the Public Sector
The amount of data being produced is constantly increasing, particularly in the public sector, and technology is constantly improving. As such, artificial intelligence (AI), with data at its core, is making its way into the public sector in order to drive efficiencies. Information & Data Management

This paper presents two Australian examples and a Canadian perspective on how data can be used to create efficiencies and to change the operations of an organisation for the better. The lessons contained within these examples are relevant to any organisation …

State of Ransomware Industry Update 2020
The increased reporting of cyber incidents among large companies in ANZ in the first half of 2020 has been clearly evident. A handful of ransomware families are dominating these attacks. It is not uncommon for many organisations to fail to report breaches, or worse, to be completely unaware that they have even taken place. Ransomware is being used for much more than just blackmail. It can be used as a diversion; first harvesting credentials for later use, and then encrypting the drive to keep IT staff occupied while the attacker covers their tracks. More recently, attackers have accomplished even more …
