Digital NSW 2025: Ministerial Keynote by The Hon. Jihad Dib MP
Watch The Hon. Jihad Dib MP deliver his 30-minute Ministerial Keynote, where he shared NSW’s digital direction, customer service initiatives, and key priorities for modernising government services.
What does digital government look like when inclusion becomes the first priority—not the last checkpoint?
In this compelling keynote, The Hon. Jihad Dib MP lays out a vision for an NSW where technology removes barriers rather than creates them.
Speaking candidly, the Minister reflects on personal experiences that shaped his approach to public service. “It’s no good if everyone can’t use it… and no good if it doesn’t work for the entire society,” he shares, underscoring why NSW’s digital strategy is anchored in equity, trust, and care.
He highlights the state’s progress, noting that NSW has delivered 86% of its high-priority digital commitments, driven by a culture of continuous improvement (kaizen) and supported by the “incredible” Digital NSW team.
The keynote also spotlights real-world applications of AI across emergency services, including:
Athena, an AI platform used in bushfire command to model fire spread, wind conditions, fuel load, and property risks.
Newly launched AI coastal safety cameras are sending real-time alerts to Surf Life Saving when rock fishers fall into dangerous waters.
NSW’s third iteration of its AI Strategy, including Australia’s first frameworks for Agentic AI.
“Technology should elevate people, not replace them,” Minister Dib emphasised, highlighting AI’s power to free staff for more human-centred work. He closed with a call for partnership: “This isn’t yours to do alone, and it’s not ours to do alone—it’s something we achieve together.”
A reminder that digital transformation succeeds only when it is inclusive, collaborative, and rooted in real-world impact.
