Government Innovation Showcase Western Australia 2026: Driving Whole-of-Government Innovation

Western Australia’s public sector is entering its next phase of digital and service transformation.

As agencies work to deliver simpler services, strengthen trust, improve productivity and make better use of data and AI, the need for practical, cross-government learning has never been greater. That is what makes Government Innovation Showcase Western Australia 2026 such an important gathering for public sector leaders this August. The event takes place on 25 August 2026 as part of Government Innovation Week Western Australia, and registration is free for government attendees.

This year’s Showcase will bring together leaders from across departments to explore the strategies, technologies and leadership approaches driving the next phase of transformation across the state. The event overview highlights a strong focus on connected, future-focused government, stronger cross-agency collaboration, streamlined processes and data-led decision-making.

Ministerial address to open the day

The 2026 Showcase will open with a Ministerial Address from Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development; Ports; Science and Innovation; Medical Research and Minister for the Kimberley, setting the tone for a day focused on practical innovation, collaboration and service improvement across WA Government.

Alongside the ministerial address, attendees will hear from senior public sector leaders working at the forefront of digital transformation, technology, data and service delivery.

Two tracks, one goal

A key feature of this year’s Government Innovation Showcase Western Australia is its two-track format, designed to bring together different perspectives while keeping the focus on one shared outcome: better public service delivery through smarter, more connected government.

Digital Services, CX, and AI Innovation

This track is designed for executives in digital services, customer experience and service design. It focuses on delivering intuitive, inclusive and citizen-centred services through human-centred design, digital tools, responsible AI and automation. The stream explores how public sector leaders are reimagining services around real-world citizen needs and shaping more connected, personalised and inclusive experiences.

Technology, Data, and AI Integration

This track is designed for leaders in technology, data, ICT, architecture and transformation. It explores how agencies can modernise systems, embed AI and use data to drive smarter, faster and more resilient government operations. The stream focuses on practical enablement, from foundational platforms and interoperable systems to responsible AI and scalable data strategies.

Across the day, the conversation will span some of the key issues shaping government innovation in WA — from digital identity, inclusion and accessibility to regional connectivity and the next phase of whole-of-government digital reform.

Why attend

Attendees can expect three core benefits: actionable insights, fostering collaboration and unmatched networking. The program is designed to provide practical strategies through keynotes, case studies and expert panels, while also creating space for agencies to work through shared challenges, learn best practices and build stronger cross-government connections.

Past attendee feedback from the 2025 event points to strong value in the Data, AI, IT and Analytics content, as well as the quality of the panel discussions and speaker sessions.
