4 Ways to Improve Your Patient Experience
However, increasing evidence linking patient experience to improved outcomes as well as regulatory trends should provide a compelling case for improving patient experience. So what steps can your organisation take to improve its patient outcomes and experience? Improving the patient experience starts with engaging the community before they enter care. Including family members in the circle of care and proactively promoting preventive care can help catch disease early or avoid its onset. Sharing information through various outreach and educational programs can help patients and their families make more informed choices about their care. By increasing patient knowledge, both the patient …

APIs in the Public Sector
Public sector institutions largely exist to improve the lives of citizens, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are a technology that can assist in achieving that goal. This paper follows the journeys of three public sector experts as they developed and use API tech to improve services and improve the lives of citizens. APIs can make things more integrated, can allow for the secure sharing of information across jurisdictions, can reduce duplication and operational costs, and ultimately, can improve government services and change lives. The lessons from these journeys can be applied across public sector institutions everywhere.

Covid has been the architect of much change, and it has most definitely altered the face of procurement forever. As a result of Covid-19 supply chains the world over have suffered a real shock. For the public sector, the fragility of supply chain and procurement initiatives, and our growing dependence upon global supply has exposed weaknesses in long-standing ways of working. How Client Centric, Digital Public Sector Services Improve NSW Citizen Experience
Innovation is a word not often directly correlated with government services. Due primarily to challenges around size, scope, budgets, bureaucracy, general risk-aversion and public scrutiny, the public sector is often regarded as slow moving. As governments strive to balance priorities and the allocation of scarce resources, new approaches are needed. The public sector needs to be increasingly innovative and to work smarter to effectively respond to the complex challenges facing society now and into the future. In this whitepaper we explore these digital service delivery priorities and delve into why they’re crucial to the future of public sector innovation.

Transforming 0s & 1s into Actionable Insight
Data is just a bunch of ones and zeros. Or at least that’d be the case without the expertise of professionals who turn information into actionable insights, and tools that make gigabytes of data digestible. Today, more and more organisations – in the private and public realms – are opening up their doors to big data and unlocking its power—increasing the value of a data science and scientists who know how to tease action from binary information. We surveyed attendees at the recent Data Science and Machine Learning Virtual Event, which was attended by almost 200 APS data professionals, to …

Blockchain Application
In our ever-changing world, there is a constant quest to make things easier, better, smarter. One of the manifestations of that in recent years is in the form of disruptive technologies, which has largely led to the gig economy. Where would we be without Uber, Airbnb, Ebay, Twitter or Amazon? One of the original disruptors was blockchain, or more accurately, distributed ledger technology (DLT), which is the tech behind it. In essence, DLT is a decentralised database managed by multiple participants, and Blockchain is a type of DLT which records information in a digital transactional chain, in a way that …

Women in Leadership Spotlight Series: Marjorie A. Cadogan, Executive Deputy Commissioner, Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access, NYC Human Resources Administration
In short, I am a health insurance problem solver and educator. I lead a dedicated team in the NYC Human Resources Administration’s Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access to expand access to health insurance for New York City residents and small businesses. We achieve our mission in a variety of ways: by administering a Citywide outreach and enrollment assistance initiative known as NYC Health Insurance Link which uses city agency sites, activities and programs to insinuate health insurance outreach and education into New Yorkers’ routine interactions with city services; maintenance of a comprehensive website of health insurance guidance and materials; …
