Effective Communications to Constituents Relying on Social Safety Net Programs
As the need for social services is impacted by Covid-19, the need to send special notices is increasing exponentially. Notices about Medicaid renewals, SNAP Interim reports, approval notifications, requests for information, etc. has increased to include special notices about emergency SNAP, allotment changes, interview process changes, and more. This can be very confusing to constituents and will likely generate an increase in phone calls. Quadient Inspire allows agencies to communicate with constituents in the way that is easiest for them. With dynamically created custom notices that are delivered across multiple communication channels (SMS, email and others), agencies can increase reach …

Managing Your Remote and Mobile Workforce
People are often attracted to various workplaces because of the benefits and conditions, but many of these benefits and conditions had to change as a result of the pandemic. For some, working remotely was already on the cards, but for others, they had to adapt and change their practices very quickly. This paper brings together the perspectives of senior executives from three local government regions, one in the UK and two from Australia. Whilst two of them had to change many of their practices as a result of COVID-19, one of them is so remote that the pandemic barely affected …

HR & Analytics in the Public Sector
People are the backbone of any organisation, and HR branches are often complex because of the issues they need to deal with. Analytics tools are often useful when dealing with people and forecasting future trends in HR. This paper brings together the perspectives of three workforce analysts who use analytics as part of their HR toolkits to better deal with their current workforce and to predict future capabilities. The lessons from these perspectives can assist anyone who deals with people or large departments.
Data, Analytics and AI
Big Data & Actionable Analytics for Government
All organisations collect data and use data. Some have data strategies to inform how the data is used and managed, whilst others use data in creative ways to deal with challenges and crises, including COVID-19. This paper presents the perspectives of three data experts from different sized public sector organisations. Between them, they are using the data at their disposal to streamline manual processes, to manage crises, and to assist their stakeholders and residents in new and creative ways. The lessons from these perspectives can assist others to also use data in innovative ways.
Data, Analytics and AI
AI in the Public Sector
The amount of data being produced is constantly increasing, particularly in the public sector, and technology is constantly improving. As such, artificial intelligence (AI), with data at its core, is making its way into the public sector in order to drive efficiencies. This paper focuses on the data and AI journeys of three data experts from three different institutions. All three agree that AI is creating efficiency and is a viable and popular solution for certain problems, but it needs to be used appropriately and for the right reasons.
Digital Services and Customer Experience
A Citizen-Led Digital Government Transformation
Customer centricity becomes more paramount in uncertain times, and the ability for the Public Sector to adapt and respond quickly to society’s changing needs is crucial in moments of disruption, as habits and behaviours irreversibly change and public trust is undoubtedly shaken. This is necessitating a new kind of governmental reform; to reshape services by redesigning, and reorganising how departments cater to the increasingly digitally driven – and now at times physically isolated – citizen. The focus needs to be on fostering a deeper understanding of public needs, combined with the transforming of service experience for citizens through embracing technological …
