The Cyber Journey with Okta
The last couple of years since the start of the pandemic have seen an increase in the types and number of cyber security threats, but also in the brazenness of the attacks. According to the survey responses, over half of Australia’s public sector agencies are currently impleme…

Speaker Spotlight Q&A: Gregory Spearman, Purchasing Director; City of Tampa
Gregory K. Spearman is a native of Glenwood, GA and received his B. S. Degree from Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Georgia, a Master’s Degree from Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia and his M.P.H. Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX. Having a supplier diversity program is extremely important because of the need to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (a/k/a DEI) in the bidding and contracting process. Small and minority owned businesses can and do perform well if there is a serious effort to de-mystify the bidding process, remove barriers that prevent them from …

Improving Leadership Representation for Women from Diverse Backgrounds
The following ten rules are based specifically on Senator Jaffer’s experience, but she says they are particularly important if you want to break down barriers. That is a very difficult thing to do, but it is much easier than it was 50 years ago. Moreover, there is a much bigger group of women in the public service these days, verging on 50%, but there is still not the diversity of backgrounds in the parliament or in the public service as there is in general society, so there is still a lot of work to do in order to get the …

Government Reimagined: The Top Digital Trends in 2022
Events of the past two years have accelerated the need among government departments and agencies to reimagine public service delivery. With entire populations forced online, the efficacy of digital government and its ability to cater to every citizen has come into an even sharper focus. Delivering this level of proactivity relies on a shift in technology and mindset organised around the citizen. It means combining user experience, customer experience, and employee experience capabilities – powered by AI and analytics. Taking a citizen-centric view also extends to digital equality and developing the capability to reach all – not just most – …

How to Deliver Resilient Infrastructure to Australian Communities
Even before the global pandemic overtook the thinking of most cities and governments, the pending crisis of climate change was at the top of many government agendas. Whilst it has been eclipsed in the last two years, it hasn’t entirely fallen off the radar, and in fact, many agencies have only increased their spending and thinking to combat climate change and to future plan their communities.

Driving Access, Inclusion and Innovation across Digital Government
As we journey beyond COVID-19, digital services will remain the primary way in which citizens engage with government, and thus require sustained prioritisation. To maintain momentum, government must continue to integrate accessibility, inclusion and innovation across digital service design and delivery. In 2022, we cannot let innovation diminish just because the challenges of the pandemic recede. As we embark on the long road to recovery, let’s sustain our digital transformation trajectory by reviewing, renewing and refining services for each and every citizen. By leveraging behavioural data and insights, we can maximise positive outcomes while fostering engagement and trust. Continuing to …

Spotlight: Securonix on Consolidation Trends
Consolidation continues to be a positive trend in the User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) industry. SIEM and UEBA were, until relatively recently, separate technology areas, with many technology vendors active in one of those areas, but few active in both. Additionally, Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) technology was separate and had its own set of active vendors. These technologies really belong in a single platform, in order to increase the efficiency of the component parts and system as a whole, and to reduce the cost and complexity of those technologies for …
