GIW Federal 2025: Industry Insights on being AI ready with Ian Jansen
Ian Jansen, VP Customer Solutions at Objective, led a 20-minute session on becoming “AI Ready,” sharing practical insights for government organizations racing to adopt AI.
Drawing on his experience as Chief Digital Officer and CIO in both public and private sectors, Ian emphasized, “AI isn’t just about technology—it’s about changing how people work and empowering them to do more.”
He reflected on Service NSW and the NSW Digital Driver’s License, calling it a landmark project in digital transformation. “Innovation isn’t just adopting new tools—it’s reshaping how services are delivered,” he noted, highlighting agile methodologies and extreme programming as foundations for citizen-focused service delivery.
Turning to Objective’s AI solutions, Jansen stressed privacy, security, and sovereignty. “Sovereign AI ensures government data stays private, traceable, and defensible,” with confidence ratings and transparent citations vital for trust and accountability.
He also highlighted how agencies are seeking insights from hidden data patterns, risk prediction, and actionable trends across registration, compliance, enforcement, and education. “AI is most powerful when it supports people rather than replaces them.”
In closing, he emphasized that AI’s true potential lies at the intersection of secure, explainable systems and human-centered workflows, enabling government organizations to innovate while building public trust.
