The Australian Public Service is increasingly adopting data, analytics, and AI technology to enhance its processes and deliver more effective citizen services. The Digital Transformation Agency estimates that by 2030, AI and machine-assisted decision-making technologies will contribute over 20 trillion dollars to the global economy.
Many questions are asked in conjunction with the use of (Generative) AI. These range from:
- Will AI take over my job?
- Can we trust the output from Generative AI?
- Are we getting what we need by using these tools or are we creating more work as clearer thorough checks are required to ensure that we are using trustable data to inform our decisions?
But what if we changed our narrative? What if instead we were asking the following questions:
- How can I use AI and other tools to improve our workflows by automating tasks, and allowing our people to do more of what they need to do?
- Can we implement data modelling tools that we trust and apply them to (generative) AI tools, as that helps us ensure that we are receiving reliable data output?
- What are our opportunities to grow and evolve and deliver more for citizens through data, analytics, and AI capabilities?
The Australian Public Sector is ramping up their efforts and are shaping more of their policies around complementing technology and human resources. Government thought leaders that shape our expert speaker faculty, will gather at our annual Federal Data and AI Showcase on the 5th of December. There will be ample discussions on the future of the APS in a digital age, and how public servants can navigate in a digital age.
