The Visual Thinking Company (VTCo) is a civic intelligence platform that breaks down silos between traditionally disconnected sectors - education, healthcare, transit, housing, and government. We integrate data across these domains to serve commercial real estate professionals, municipalities, and institutional partners throughout Metro Vancouver.
The Problem We Solve
Civic institutions operate from contradictory data systems. School boards project enrollment without housing coordination. Municipal planners allocate capital without cross-domain integration. Each jurisdiction optimizes locally while coherence degrades.
Real-World Example: The Vancouver School Board
Our foundational analysis of the Vancouver School Board (VSB) revealed how disconnected data creates systemic problems. The VSB case demonstrates what happens when different levels of government and departments operate with contradictory information about the same communities - leading to enrollment gaps, underutilized facilities, and at-risk public assets. This analysis became the cautionary tale that proves the need for our platform and demonstrates why civic intelligence integration is critical for effective community planning.
