Overview
Social media is an essential tool for public sector agencies to inform, engage, communicate with and learn from stakeholders and the community it serves. If done well the benefits are plenty due to the ability to share information in real-time including:
- Connect with sections of the community that you may have struggled to engage in the past including – youth and young adults
- Overcoming geographic barriers and improving connections with rural and remote communities
- Improving engagement with linguistically diverse communities
- Building trust
- Driving innovation and change for the betterment of the communities you serve
- Boosting the effectiveness of service delivery
But it’s a tricky landscape for Australian government agencies. You’re juggling public trust, professional integrity, and the spread of misinformation while grappling with legal and ethical issues.
