After a number of large scale cyber-attacks over the last year, the security of citizen data and systems of national significance remains at the forefront of the Government’s agenda. With the first ever Minister for Cyber Security, Hon Claire O’Neil, being appointed in June 2022, there is now a dedicated focus to reduce the risk of further breaches to Australian data and networks.

As we’ve faced lockdowns, lost businesses and a devasted economy, we are still recovering. Three years later, circumstances are very different, and the economy is recovering in remarkable ways. As such, the governments of most provinces across Canada are now prioritizing their spending in new, surprising ways.

Public Sector Network has convened a group of Senior Level Public Sector Leaders
Public Sector Network (PSN) has assembled a Leadership Advisory Board consisting of Senior Level Public Sector Leaders to support and guide its events and new initiatives for the US Public Sector. The board will focus on identifying opportunities for development, ideation, and learning from public sector professionals in order to advance leadership across communities. The board features leaders from various departments and jurisdictions, including representatives from the USPTO, the State of Montana, and the City of Mesa, among others.

In many governments across the world, the notion of innovation sounds almost counterintuitive. After all, government agencies are usually large, bureaucratic and usually slow to act. Whilst the pandemic showed that governments can innovate when required, it often comes in short bursts and for short periods. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Brianna Verhelst, the Executive Director of the Office of Planning, Performance & Improvement at the Ministry of Finance in the Government of Saskatchewan, says that innovation in government can thrive when we don’t underestimate the importance of people to the practice of innovation.
