What’s In Store for 2024

Advancing AI maturity is essential for the government, where assurance, ethics, and the engineering of AI rights are increasingly important.

AI has enormous potential to create new capabilities and value for organisations and customers. By 2030, it is estimated that AI and related machine-assisted decision-making technologies will contribute over $20 trillion to the global economy. However, these advancements also introduce new risks and exposures that public sector leaders must navigate. Mitigating these risks and challenges is crucial for the Victorian public sector to fully realize the benefits of AI.

As AI insights become more critical to business operations and technology choices proliferate, agencies need assurance that their models operate responsibly, with transparent processes and explainable results. In this context, the Victorian Public Sector AI Showcase will explore promising use cases and assess critical next steps toward 2025. This includes ethically implementing generative AI, scaling existing AI initiatives, and developing AI-ready data capabilities to keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
